Hicks Civil and Mining is a proud Supply Nation certified supplier, committed to supporting the prosperous Indigenous business sector in Western Australia. As a verified Indigenous business, we emphasise cultural awareness and actively engage Indigenous contractors when completing projects with a dedication to promoting inclusivity and community growth.
Hicks Civil and Mining was established in 2010 by Peter and Lisa Hicks. Peter is a Ngarluma man who was born and raised in the Pilbara region and has been working professionally in the mining and construction industry since the age of 17.
Peter and Lisa remained in Port Hedland with their two daughters, Keryn and Caitlin, where they attended primary and high school before entering the mining and construction industry themselves.
Keryn and Caitlin, like their father, also started in the industry at 17, where they pursued careers as administrators with Ngarda Civil and Mining. Keryn went on to work within BHP for many years before commencing with the family business in 2012.
Caitlin travelled to various projects with Ngarda on a FIFO basis before going on to work for BHP as a travel coordinator in the rail industry and then entering the family business in early 2012. Both Caitlin and Keryn have remained in the Port Hedland area, where they are raising their own families.
Together, the Hicks family have a combined 40 years of experience and have since established and positioned the business to be a leading provider in the mining and construction industry. As an Indigenous-owned company recognised as a Certified Supplier for the Supply Nation, we aim to increase supplier diversity in the state and foster opportunities for verified Indigenous businesses in Australia’s leading database, Indigenous Business Direct. By partnering with us, you support a more inclusive economy and contribute to the growth of the Indigenous business sector.
At Hicks Civil and Mining, our values are integral to the positive culture we strive to cultivate in the business we conduct. These are the values we take to heart in all of our project works:
We strive to create a positive safety culture for all our employees, subcontractors, and clients in the work we undertake. We always foreground Workplace Health and safety practices in our project work and emphasise mental health awareness in our company culture to ensure our employees and all those we engage with are treated with respect.
As a completely Aboriginal-owned company, our cultural heritage respects the environment in all our project work. We do this through minimisation, prevention, protection, and management to ensure that Western Australia's land is respected on all levels of civil and earthworks operations.
We seek to empower our employees and clients to achieve their best results through clear teamwork, communication, and transparency. We always keep an open line of communication from inception to completion, guaranteeing that all parties are supported and empowered to achieve the best possible outcomes.
Hicks Civil and Mining is one of the leading civil works companies in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. As the only fully Aboriginal-owned civil works company in the Pilbara, we understand and are always respectful with our operations to Aboriginal heritage, culture, and the Traditional Owner Group’s connection to the land.
